“Of
course you can, just make a contract with me, and become a magical girl.” (Kyubey, episode 1) This will
question rather you sacrifice the things you love.
The story
follows Madoka Kaname, a naive and sweet girl who leads a seemingly normal life
with a few close friends and a loving family. Her life changes when she comes
along with an extraterrestrial being name Kyubey. He offers to grant her one
wish in return she serves as a Puella Magi. While the show seems very innocent
but not everything looks as it seemed to be. The show takes a dark turn after
several episodes in to the anime.
The anime
itself is thought out, metaphoric and makes for a great discussion topics as
there is so much to think about and draw meanings from. The positive messages
are strong with this anime; such as love, agony, hate and many others, and the
character's personalities resembles to life and human.
This anime
tends to be violent in some scenes and several character deaths and is not much
blood or gore. Language is not particularly strong rather watching the dub or
sub with just a few curse words dropped here and there. There is one scene in
the anime that place a few insults towards females. However, the behavior of
the people insulting is looked down upon by a lead character, who is quick to
correct their behavior. Alcohol is scene very briefly in the anime, but the
characters that consume the alcohol are adults.
Overall
there isn’t as flaws in the anime and I highly recommend to any anime fan. This
show is truly beautiful and deserves lots of credit than it has now.
This was a review of Madoka Magica a part of a magazine. I like this project because I get to review a show that I really love very much.
